Ep 2: How I Made Daily Email Reports Do My Job for Me
So... I made this thing. It sends out daily email performance reports, every morning. Sends, clicks, CTRs just show up in your inbox. Nobody has to push a button. Nobody even has to be awake.

Let Me Back Up
Back when “important” campaigns were flying around, my mornings looked like this: I’d open Tableau, squint at 17 filters like I was deciphering hieroglyphics, try to remember which journeys actually sent, and then manually paste numbers into a spreadsheet. Digital mailman vibes, but make it painful.
Eventually, I got tired of crying a little every morning. So I automated the whole thing. Pure spite.
Best part: I don’t have to stare at Tableau anymore and silently judge my life choices.
Worst part: SFMC views. Use this only for campaigns that matter unless you want SFMC to implode.
What It Does
It grabs the last 7 days of data, compares this week to last:
“Journey A sent 1,245 emails. Clicks went down 12%.”
Boom. Slack’s on fire. You’re welcome.
How It Works
It’s basically an unholy trinity of:
Email with HTML + AMPscript
Dext pulling SFMC send views
SQL doing the heavy lifting
If you’re juggling multiple markets, it can handle that too. Behind the scenes, AMPscript + SQL + magic numbers pull the data, calculate averages, and even write tiny reports that say, “Yeah…your campaigns were kind of a mess this week.”
The Result
Beautiful tables that make you forget how sad your morning used to be
Weekly send + click changes with color-coded judgment (green for yay, red for meh)
Tiny textual commentary basically whispering, “Terrible week for your campaigns, champ”
